Tennis Team Edges Lakeland
A pair of singles wins helped the Warriors edge past Lakeland 3-2 in Syracuse Wednesday.
Cal Heinisch led the way for the hosts with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.
The Warriors also got straight set wins from Nate Perek at No. 3 singles (7-6, 7-6) and from its No. 2 doubles team of Tyler Rhodes and Cameron Brill (6-2, 6-2) to even their record at 1-1.
Wawasee won the JV match by a 4-0 final. Winning for the JV Warriors were Dylan Staley, Tim Conley and Chase Jones in singles play and the doubles team of Brayton Fritz and Derek Stutzman.
Wawasee will play at conference foe Plymouth Thursday.
Girls’ Soccer Squad Defeated
Host West Noble topped Wawasee by a 3-1 final in non-conference girls’ soccer play Wednesday in Ligonier.
The Chargers built a 2-0 halftime lead en route to the win.
Sarah Lancaster tallied the lone goal for the Warriors.
Wawasee, now 1-1, will host Westview Saturday.
