SOUTH WHITLEY – Thursday’s game with Columbia City was not an opener to remember for the Whitko boys soccer team.

City (2-0) peppered the Whitko net to the tune of five goals in the first half in an eventual 6-2 romp.

Whitko had Keegan Hicks score in the first half, assisted by Daniel Kirkham, then Kirkham found the back of the net in the second half, assisted by Will Peters.

Columbia City’s goal scorers were not reported.

Whitko (0-1) will look to make amends Saturday as it travels to Lakeland Christian for a 5 p.m. date with the Academy.
