Community Prayer Service At Wawasee High School
There will plenty of prayers to go around Sunday night in the Wawasee High School auditorium. All members of the public are invited.
About 10 area churches are assisting in organizing the free event, and their aim is focused on one of the community’s most notable centerpieces.
“The overall purpose is to bless our schools and the community,” said Dave Winters, assistant pastor of Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse and president of the Syracuse/Wawasee Ministers Association, the organization sponsoring the event.
“The high school is kind of the heart of the community,” he said, “and we want to see our schools have a safe and productive year.”
The 30- to 45-minute prayer service will start at 6 p.m. with a prelude of contemporary worship by the youth band from North Webster Church of God, followed by a session of participatory prayer.
Following the service, the attending pastors will assemble at the front of the auditorium to counsel and pray with individuals who come forward. The remaining attendees will be invited to walk the school’s halls and pray over individual classrooms, offices and other venues.
The event will end “by 7:30 or 8 p.m.,” said Winters. “We as pastors have a double conviction on praying for our schools and community. We want to stand together as churches for the good of our schools and community.”
