Wawasee Sports Wrap – Sept. 4
Another Northern Lakes Conference foe, another step closer to a goal. Thursday evening at Maplecrest Country Club, the Wawasee girls golf team did what it needed to do, shooting a 181 to cruise past Goshen’s 229.
The Lady Warriors, now 5-0 in the NLC and 14-0 overall, used a 42 from Mikala Mawhorter, 45 from Elizabeth Jackson, 46 from Kylee Rostochak and 48 from Aubrey Schmeltz to compose its winning tally. Gale Immel led Goshen (2-5, 2-3 NLC) with a 51, but the Redskins didn’t have another score better than a 58, both accrued by Claire Palczynski and Nicole Miller. Sara Rodgers gave Goshen its fourth score at 62.
The win moves Wawasee one step away from claiming an NLC regular season title, but currently unbeaten NorthWood (5-0 NLC) stands in the way. The triangular next Wednesday at Meadow Valley Golf Course, which also includes host Northridge, will decide the conference crown.
