Helen L. Shoemaker, 94, of Winona Lake, Ind., passed away at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, in Pierceton, Ind.

On March 21, 1920, she was born in Pierceton, to Jacob Gail and Pearl (Vonblond) Wine. She was united in marriage to Everett L. Shoemaker in Winona Lake, on July 27, 1940. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2010.

Helen was a homemaker and was also a member of Winona Lake Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon. She was a member of Home Economics Club 49’ers, Winona Lake and a senior member of the Literary Club. Helen graduated from Pierceton High School and attended Manchester College.

Helen is survived by two daughters: Janet Hartman, Pierceton; Patricia (Allan) Koher, Huntington, Ind.; three grandchildren: Kathy (Mike) Leckrone, North Manchester, Ind.; Bryan Koher, Huntington; Kevin Hartman, Columbia City; and four great-grandchildren: Chloe Leckrone, Sophie Leckrone, Jared Hartman and Justin Hartman;

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister; one step-brother; and one step-sister.

Visitation hours will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton and from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Good Shepherd Church, formerly known as First Presbyterian Church of Winona Lake. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the church with Pastors Rob Harrison and Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
