Bonnie J. Summy
Bonnie J. Summy, 95, of Ashland, Ind., passed away Sunday Sept. 21, 2014, at the Wausen Center.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1918, in Leesburg Ind., to James (Jay) and Anna Marie (Niebling) Becknell. On May 31, 1936, Bonnie was married to W. Raymond Summy who preceded her in death,
She had been an Ashland resident since 1958 where she was a homemaker and also was employed at Brethren Publishing for 13 and a half years. Mrs. Summy was a member of the Park Street Brethren Church where she taught Sunday School and she had also previously been a deaconess at the Garber Brethren Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and enjoyed family gatherings in her home. She was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by two daughters: Janet (Ken) Rufener, Ashland; LuAnn Patznick, Ashland; three grandchildren: Christopher (LeighAnne) Rufener, John (Jennilyn) Summy and Lauralee Koppler; five great-grandchildren; also surviving are Caley Koppler, Marc, Luke and John Rufener and Jaxon Summy.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Summy is preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Beverly Summy; one sister: Mary Bumbaugh; and one brother: Ernest Becknell.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Park Street Brethren Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept, 24, at the church with pastor Christopher Rufener and David Fisher officiating.
