Annual Kosciusko County Shrine Turkey Shoot
By JOHN SADLER
Shrine Turkey Shoot Committee
The 16th Annual Shrine Turkey Shoot will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11 and 12, at Beeson’s Gun Range, 8994 West CR 25 South, Etna Green (just off Crystal Lake Road).
The annual shoot is to support the Kosciusko County Shrine Club and Mizpah Temple’s philanthropic mission to support the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Mizpah Temple, Fort Wayne, supports many local counties, including Kosciusko. In this county it serves over 100 patients and in the area it serves 1250 patients.
The premier, one-of-a-kind health care system is comprised of 22 hospitals dedicated to providing children’s healthcare and has treated over one million children to the age of 18, regardless of the ability to pay. Children are treated for the following conditions: diseases of bones, joints, muscle and tissue; foot and hand injury and deformity; cleft lip and palate; limb discrepancy or loss; spinal cord injuries; juvenile idiopathic arthritis; club foot; infantile and adolescence scoliosis; knee/hip injury or deformity; orthopedic conditions associated with cerebral palsy or spina bifida.
While the Kosciusko County Shrine Club is best known for the annual trip for third graders to the “Shrine Circus” (with literally over a 100 thousand students taken free of charge, as a conservative estimate!) the Turkey Shoot is a fantastic way for the community to support the Shrine. The public is welcome.
Bring the family for food, fellowship and plain old Indiana fall fun to support the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. Shoot a paper target, bring your own gun or we can provide one, shells are provided. Shoot for Maple Leaf Farms Duck, turkeys or ham, or cash. Age 14 and under shoot for free to win a Rossi .20/.22 combo provided by Little Hawks Guns. A raffle for a Stevens .20 ga over and under and the total value of the shoot and auction is over $10,000.00.
