Army Ranger Named Veteran Of The Month
An Army Ranger was named October’s Veteran of the Month at the Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting Tuesday.
Chuck Dippon of Warsaw was in the U.S. Army for 10 years. He joined the Army in March 1991. After basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., he was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. He also was stationed in Fulda, Germany, Vilsick, Germany, and Colorado Springs, Colo. He received an honorable discharge in March 2001.
“The things I took from my military service are the importance of belonging to a good team and how far a good work ethic will get you,” he said.
Dippon lives in Warsaw with his wife, Amber; the couple have six children. His oldest son, Austin, is serving in the Army Reserves in Cuba.
In other news, commissioners signed the contractor’s bid for a bridge rehabilitation project in Syracuse. Northern Indiana Construction Company, Mishawaka, will do the work. It was awarded the bid Sept. 28 for $404,278.71. The project is expected to start in late fall and be completed by the end of May. The bridge is located on South Front Street, north of Medusa Street.
The next meeting is at 9 a.m. Oct. 21, at the county courthouse in Warsaw.
