LCA Sports Wrap – Oct. 9
The Lakeland Christian volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a win Thursday.
The host Cougars defeated Caston 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 in their final home match of the season.
Freshman Sydney Hobbs led the way for the winners with nine aces, three kills and four digs.
Senior Paige Price had five aces, nine kills, four digs and eight assists for the Cougars.
Senior Maryl Gerst had two aces, seven assists, three kills and three digs. Senior Joselyn Helton had a kill and five digs, while senior Veronica Flores had an ace and four digs and senior Laura Pitts an ace and 10 digs.
LCA had a total of 19 aces in the win.
The Cougars play at Elkhart Christian next Thursday.
Boys Soccer Team Sees Season End
The LCA boys soccer team closed out its season Wednesday night with a 9-0 loss to Bremen in the Argos Sectional.
The Cougars kept it close in the opening half, trailing just 3-0.
Seniors Kyle Shuler and Drew Nieveen led the defense for LCA.
The Cougars finish the season at 2-16.
