Warsaw Takes Own Tourney Title
WARSAW – The Warsaw volleyball team tuned up for postseason play Saturday by winning its own tournament.
The host Tigers defeated Tippecanoe Valley 3-0 and Northfield 3-0 to win the Warsaw Spiker Invitational.
Senior Katie Voelz led the offense in the two wins with a total of 22 kills for coach Mike Howard’s squad.
Junior Caroline Mayer had 18 kills in the pair of wins for the Tigers.
Junior Peyton Adamiec led the defense with 35 digs to go with a team-high eight aces. Sophomore Cassie Hoag had seven aces to go with 58 assists.
Junior Jordyn Lindeman continued her strong play at the net with 11 blocks in the two wins. Voelz had four blocks on the day. Mayer also had 21 digs for the Tigers.
Warsaw, now 27-5, will play Elkhart Central Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the opening match of the Class 4-A Concord Sectional.
