Shirley Ann Ward
Shirley Ann Ward, 80, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Ind., passed away at 1:59 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
She was born on June 7, 1934 in West Frankfort, Illinois to Clyde Augustus Pittman and Beulah (Aiken) Pittman. On June 27, 1956, in Romulus, N.Y., she was married to Ronald F. ‘Ron’ Ward, who passed away on March 26, 2005.
She had been a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 2 years and was a former resident of Peru, Ind. Shirley was a graduate of Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo., and was a registered nurse. She traveled to several states with her husband’s USAF career. They resided in Germany, New York, Illinois, Mississippi, Colorado, North Dakota, Okinawa, Japan and Indiana.
She is survived by her two daughters: Kathy (Jim) MacDonald, Warsaw; Karen (Duane) Springer, Fort Wayne; son: Michael (Missy) Ward, Niceville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren: Matthew MacDonald, Kathryn Ackers, Sarah Sinclair, Joshua and Austin Springer, McKenzie and Mason Ward.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, and officiated by Reverend Robert Clark. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
