Emergency personnel are currently responding to a large, main gas leak located near Shelden and Poplar streets north of Kohl’s in Warsaw.

A loud sound of gas releasing can be heard in the area. The leak is near the corner of Sassafras Court and Poplar Street in the residential community of Northwest Woods. Warsaw Fire Department is on-scene and a representative from NIPSCO has arrived. NIPSCO is assembling a crew to repair the leak.

According to officials, an excavator struck a 2-3 inch gas line at a home build.
