The winners of the annual spider beauty contest at Triton Elementary.

The second grade classrooms at Triton Elementary School held their annual Spider Beauty Contest.

There were many beautiful contestants and picking a winner from each class was difficult.

When the students finished their voting, Adrian Rooney and his contestant, Midnight, were proclaimed the winners in Samantha Phenix’s class.

In Carly Biddle’s class the winner was Shawn Young with Nicki. Claire Rowe and her spider, Crazy, won top honors in Denise Voreis’ classroom.

The classes then took the contestants outside and let them go to live happily and free. We celebrated spider week by learning unique facts about spiders through the stories we read, watched interesting videos of spiders eating and molting, studied spider body parts, made spider art projects, and told many wonderful spider stories.

Area spiders are now safe until next year.
