UPDATE: Semi Vs. Car On Pierceton Road, Winona Lake
Michael L. Miner, 66, East Pierceton Road, Pierceton, suffered an abrasion to the elbow/lower arm after his vehicle struck a grain semitrailer at 7:44 a.m. Tuesday.
Jacob D. Guy, 26, South 250E, Warsaw, driver of the grain tractor/trailer, told Kosciusko County Police he was driving the vehicle out of a parking lot and onto Pierceton Road. Having to make a wide turn, so not to hit a utility pole, he drove the vehicle out onto the road and was facing eastbound in the westbound lane. The cab of his vehicle was slightly off the roadway and the trailer across the entire roadway.
Miner ,stated he thought the tractor/trailer had pulled off the northside of the road. He went to go around the truck, but once he drove past the headlights of the vehicle, he saw the trailer across the roadway. It was too late for Miner to avoid hitting the trailer. Miner stated he could not see the trailer due to the headlights on the truck. Darkness and rain also played a factor.
Damage was estimated up to $25,000.
