Milford Public Library This Week
By MILFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY STAFF
Friends of Library Book Sale
Remember the Friends Book & Bake Sale at the Milford Public Library planned for Nov. 14 and 15. Do you have books, CDs and DVDs in good condition that you no longer want?
Bring them to the library’s meeting room and donate them to the sale. There are lots of great books and other materials to choose from. Plus, there will be delicious donated baked goods to purchase and enjoy while you read your “new” book! There are just a few copies of the Friends of the Library Cookbook available for $15 each.
These cookbooks make an outstanding gift for someone on your Christmas list. Come to the meeting room from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 and from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 to browse for books and grab a homemade baked good as you leave.
All donations and sales go toward helping the library with its programming and other expenses. We hope to see you come out and support the library by filling your shopping bag with some great reads and treats.
Adult Craft Night
Decorate your door this Thanksgiving season with a turkey wreath! Adult Craft Night is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the library meeting room.
The $15 fee is to cover the costs of materials to make the wreath. Sign up at the Adult Circulation Desk. Money is due when you sign up! Call us at (574) 658-4312 if you have any questions or want to sign up.
After School is Cool
Gobble, gobble, gobble, goes the turkey. Come this week to After School is Cool at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, for Thanksgiving Crafts.
Join in to make a turkey you can display in your window and other thanksgiving crafts. After making crafts, enjoy a snack. Bring all your friends to the library on Tuesday for Turkey Fun.
Remember that each After School is Cool you attend earns you ten points. When you have forty points, you can choose a paperback book to add to your home library.
Fall Storytime
It’s getting colder and the first day of winter is approaching faster than any of us would like. As we go outside, we need to remember to dress for the weather and stay warm.
Join this week for fall story time, Let’s Get Ready for Winter! Come at 10:15am or 1:30pm Wednesday, Nov. 12, or at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13.
What do you do to get ready for winter? Find your hat, mittens and scarf? Look for all your warm socks and sweaters? Listen to “The Busy Little Squirrel” by Nancy Tafuri and “No Two Alike” by Keith Baker.
After listening to stories, we will make scarves that we can wear all winter long. After we make our scarves, we will enjoy a chocolate acorn snack. All children ages 3-6 are invited to join us for story time. You can register for story time by calling (574) 658-4312 and asking for the Children’s Department. There are only two weeks of story time left . . . register today!
Resources for you!
The library’s first priority is serving our community. We have so many resources available to our service area, we want to encourage you to take advantage of what is offered. One of the many free services offered by the Library is Freegal.
All Milford Library patrons can use this service. Freegal gives our patrons access to free music and music video downloads weekly. Do you use iTunes? Freegal is very similar, but the library has paid for the songs or videos you download. There are thousands of tunes to choose from.
From John Legend and Johnny Cash to Johann Sebastian Bach, you can browse through all the artists or look for a specific song. If you have a Milford library card and internet access, then you can use Freegal!
The patrons who already receive their weekly downloads highly recommend using this FREE service! Stop by or call in to ask us for more information.
In addition to those resources, we are constantly adding new links to our site for your use. Check out our catalog page and services page on our website to view the links!
