Christmas Display And Activities For December
By LARRY PLUMMER
Superintendent Warsaw Parks and Recreation
Once again the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will offer a free Holiday Light Display at Central Park.
Take a stroll through the park and enjoy the lights and music. This year we will have many rope light fixtures as well as carolers, manger scene and Santa with sleigh and reindeer.
All buildings will be lit with new LED icicles as well as the 200,000 lights on the trees and bushes. Also a couple of new LED figurines will be added.
Concessions will be provided by Young Tiger Football with all proceeds going to the 2015 Christmas display.
This year’s display, sponsored by Maple Leaf Farms, Hodgepodge and IU Health Goshen Hospital, will start Dec. 5 and end on Dec. 31. The display will be lit from 4 p.m. to midnight each day.
Other activities will include Light Up The Night at Central Park from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Celebrate the first lighting of the Central Park Holiday Light Display. Walk through the festive lights and enjoy holiday performances in the park.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will ride in the First Friday Twinkle Parade at 7 p.m. from downtown and will arrive to the park by 7:30 p.m. to visit with children. Children will also receive holiday glow necklaces, while supplies last.
Also enjoy our Christmas Countdown from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday Dec. 12, at the Center Lake Pavilion. This is a free event to the public. Celebrate the holiday season with crafts, hot cocoa, cookies, music, and more! Santa will make a special appearance at the event, so bring your camera to snap a picture of the kids.
A wonderful complement to visiting the festive Central Park Holiday Light Display. Sponsorship for this activity is provided by Paragon Medical.
We want everyone to come and enjoy the Holiday with us. It’s a great time for families to come together, grab a warm cookie and a hot chocolate and walk through our Holiday display. I personally hope everyone enjoys our display and has a happy holiday season.
