13th Annual Turkey Lurkey 5K
Combined Community Services will be holding their 13th Annual Turkey Lurkey 5k Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 in Winona Lake.
The race is a challenging course which starts at Winona Lake Park, runs down the quaint streets of Winona Lake, meanders through the scenic wooded pathways, and then finishes back at Winona Lake Park.
Registration is located at the Grace College Rodeheaver Auditorium the day of the race from 8 to 8:41 a.m. The Rodeheaver Auditorium is located at 901 Park Avenue, Winona Lake.
You can pre-register online at http://www.turkeylurkey5k.com. Pre-registration ends Nov. 15. The cost for pre-registration is Adult: $20 and student: $15.
Day of registration fees are adult: $25 and student: $20
The event will take place rain or shine and refunds will not be issued based on weather conditions. All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
All pre-registered participants will be guaranteed to receive a Turkey Lurkey custom designed long sleeve t-shirt.
A special prize will be given to the participant that finds and returns the lost turkey hidden on the course.
Trophy and a $100 gift certificate to Three Rivers Running Company will be given to the top overall male and female finishers. Awards will also be given to the top three runners in each age group, by gender. Under 10, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
There will be a number of door prizes to give away at this year’s race. Each racer will receive one entry. Winners will be announced at the Post Race Party. Must be present to win.
The Turkey Lurkey 5K is an officially timed event by the Kosciusko Runner’s Association using the RFID timing system. Timing chips are attached directly to the back of your bib number and are to remain adhered for the duration of the event.
Results will be posted on-site, as soon as possible following the event and official results will be posted on the KRA website www.RunKRA.com
After the race celebrate your achievement in the Rodeheaver Auditorium for snacks and refreshments.
All of the proceeds from the “Turkey Lurkey” 5K Race are used to support the many programs at Combined Community Services that help the low-income residents of Kosciusko County work toward self-sufficiency.
Combined Community Services is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides many programs and services for Kosciusko County. Our largest program is our Emergency Assistance program, which offers long term solutions as well as immediate financial help. It’s our goal to meet the spiritual needs of the people we meet with and to offer more than just a quick solution to the immediate problem. Our appointment system allows us time to discuss topics that led to the immediate crisis, from employment issues, budgeting, support systems, to referrals for assistance with education, childcare, and medical needs.
