Salvation Army In Urgent Need For Volunteer Bell Ringers
By Lt. ESTEBAN POMMIER, M.A.
Commanding Officer, The Salvation Army Warsaw Corps Community Center
The Salvation Army is in urgent need for volunteer bell ringers. They are preparing for a busy weekend. Although volunteers have already been ringing at some locations, shifts will soon become available at all participating stores.
“We are very pleased with the community’s response to our new online tool for signing up; over 1,000 volunteer hours have already been scheduled but many more are still open” said Lt. Esteban Pommier, Corps Officer.
The Salvation Army’s goal for the campaign is $75,000 for both Bell Ringing and Counter Kettles placed at different stores in the community.
“We had a very rough season last year due to extreme weather conditions but I am sure our generous community will step up one more time to help us have a successful campaign. The demand for assistance in our community continues to increase but our commitment to fight poverty and hopelessness is stronger than ever.” said Pommier.
Bells have been ringing every Christmas Season in Kosciusko County since 1921. Businesses, churches, clubs, families and individuals can now go to www.registertoring.com to sign up and choose the time, date and place. Shifts can also be scheduled at (574) 267-5361.
Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1257 Warsaw, with the memo: Red Kettle Campaign 2014.
