The Lerner Showing ‘Elf’ For Lunchtime Live
The antics of Buddy the Elf be featured on the Lerner Theatre’s big screen for a special family edition of Lunchtime Live! on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Elf the 2003 holiday classic starring Will Ferrell, Bob Newhart and James Caan, will be the feature presentation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The concept for this edition of the Lunchtime Live! series was brought to the Lerner staff by a local fourth-grade student. Greta Boecher, a 9-year-old student at Eastwood Elementary School in Elkhart, brought the concept for this event to the Lerner staff. Boecher heard the Humane Society was looking to raise funds for a new facility and thought this might be a way to help.
Of course, the shelter always is in need of pet food and other items, too, so that element was incorporated into the event. She also took on marketing duties, making sure all K-6 students in Elkhart went home with fliers she designed for the show.
The movie is free to attend, but donations of pet items and money are welcome and will be accepted by Humane Society representatives in the lobby. At this time, patrons are not allowed to bring lunch into the theatre, but are encouraged to visit nearby Gateway Mile restaurants before or after taking in the show.
Lunchtime Live! occurs once a month at the historic Lerner in downtown Elkhart. The series gives residents and business people a chance to take a break from their day and enjoy talented performers at no charge.
