UPDATE: Car Crashes Into Building
Ricky M. Honeycutt, 61, West Old Road 30, Warsaw, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of minor bleeding to the head and evaluation, following a one-vehicle accident. The accident was at 2:44 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Heart Plaza Hotel, East Center Street, Warsaw.
Warsaw Police report Honeycutt stated he turned into the driveway for the hotel, from Center Street, and at some point in time the accelerator became stuck. Honeycutt could only remember what happened after the accident.
Police report Honeycutt’s vehicle accelerated over the curb, crashing into the Heart Plaza Hotel. A witness stated the driver then put the car in reverse and accelerated backwards. The driver then put the vehicle into drive and accelerated again, hitting a telephone pole on the east side of the building.
There was significant damage to the hotel. The owner of the building, Laurie Johnson, was contacted. Damage was estimated up to $50,000.
INITIAL: Warsaw Fire Department and Multi-Township EMS are en route to an accident at the Heart Plaza, 2509 E. Center St., Warsaw.
According to a Warsaw Police Department officer at the scene, the driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and is currently being evaluated by EMS.
The city’s building inspector, at the request of Warsaw Fire Department, is en route to the location to inspect the building. No one was in the residence at the time of the accident.
There is partial road obstruction on Center Street due to emergency vehicles. Motorists should avoid the area.
