Douglas W. Rensberger
Douglas W. Rensberger, 76, of Nappanee, died at 8:25 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at South Bend Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 31, 1937 in Nappanee to John and Elizabeth (Schiender) Rensberger.
He married Vivian “Clete” Blue on June 2, 1957, in Urbana. Rensberger lived his lifetime in Nappanee. He was a graduate of Nappanee High School. He had worked at Coppes Kitchens for 54 years. He had started working there when he was 16. Mr. Rensberger attended Nappanee Missionary Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. One of their annual family traditions was gathering together to make apple butter. Doug was known for his red suspenders.
He is survived by his wife; daughters: Sue (Jeff) Simmons, Muskegon, Mich., Brenda (Kerry) Grimm, Wawaka; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother: Willie Rensberger, Warsaw; sisters, Emma Ernest Rensberger and Katherine Alexander, both of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Arlene, Myrtle, Marge and brothers: Chuck, Dick, and an infant brother.
Family and friends may call from 2 p.m.to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. Pastor Norm Reimer will officiate. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or Nappanee Tree Board for development of Recovery Park.
