Kids Learn Teamwork And Basketball Skills At The Y
Registration is going on now for Y Youth Basketball, where children grades 2 through 4 can learn basic skills in a positive environment. The YMCA emphasizes participation, fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship and having fun over winning.
Basketball games are played on Saturdays at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA, with practices on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at Harrison Elementary School. Games start Saturday, Jan. 17 and run until Feb. 21.
Again this year, the league will be working with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants from the National Basketball Developmental League. The Mad Ants will be coming to the Y to run a clinic where the kids will learn skills from the players themselves.
All Y Youth Basketball players will also receive a game ticket good for any home Mad Ants game during their season, a T-shirt, basketball and award.
Register until Jan. 6, with a late fee after Dec. 31 at the YMCA. Call Steven Kuhn at (574) 269-9622 for more information or see www.kcymca.org.
The Y is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. All the efforts and offerings of the Kosciusko Community YMCA are guided by the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Every day, the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Through October of 2014, the Kosciusko Community YMCA provided $119,633 in financial assistance to make sure that happens.
