Purdue Extension Holds Dairy Nutrition Workshop

Nutrition is always a hot topic when it comes to dairy cattle farmers. With the fluctuation in feed prices, the weather, and the newly harvested crop it can be a task for dairy cattle farms to find that right ration balance for their operations.
Purdue Extension Elkhart County will be hosting a Dairy Nutrition update from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Ag Hall on the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds located at 17746 CR 34, Goshen.
This year’s topics and speakers include: Dr. Tamilee Nennich, dairy extension specialist with, “Current State of Dairy Nutrition,” Dr. Mike Hutjens, professor emeritus, University of Illinois, “Making the Right Feeding Decisions in 2015,” “Feeding Strategies to Improve Calf Growth Performance” will be presented by Tana Dennis, graduate student, Purdue University.
We will wrap up the workshop with a panel moderated by Tom Moneyheffer of Nutritional Blending on “Using Cover Crops as a Forage.” Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the speakers and ask nutritional questions.
The total cost of the workshop is $30 per a person and will include: lunch, materials and handouts. Reservations for the workshop are needed.
