Candy Shoppe Owner Arrested on Child Molestation Charges
William Gilliland, 67, of Pendleton, IN, has been arrested on child molestation charges. His business, the Old Fashion Candy Shoppe on Main St. in Pendleton, was also raided to gather evidence.
Gilliland faces numerous allegations of child molestation, child exploitation and possession of child pornography for cases dating back to 2008. Three victims have come forward, but their identities will not be released to protect their privacy. The three girls ranged in age from 8 to 12 years at the time of the alleged incidents.
In August, one of the victims was in the hospital with a serious health issue and spoke to investigators, who then served search warrants on Gilliland’s house and candy shop. Around the same time, another of the victims attended a Sunday school class where Gilliland was the teacher and had a panic attack when she saw him.
Searches of Gilliland’s house and business turned up a camera allegedly used in the crimes, as well as naked photos of some victims.
