Winter Storm Watch Issued Through Tuesday
The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a winter storm watch, which is in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday morning. The watch includes LaGrange, Noble, DeKalb, Kosciusko and Whitley counties.
Snow is expected to move into the area Monday evening and continue into Tuesday morning. Snowfall amounts of 3 inches to 6 inches are likely with between 5 inches and 8 inches possible. The location where the heavier snowfall amounts occur remains uncertain, which has prompted the watch.
Remember a watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations.
Temperatures will be in the single digits and teens during this event. Winds will likely be around 10 miles per hour.
NWS states snowfall rates up to an inch per hour may occur Monday night. Heavy accumulations will be possible with visibility reduced to one-fourth mile or less at times. Roads will become snow covered, slick and hazardous.
