Through their music and live performance, The Outer Vibe captures a “Big America” energy that is larger than a 1960s Detroit assembly line. Their sound is a collage of the motor city’s passion and power, the upbeat, good feelings of the West coast, and a cinematic southwestern nostalgia. The familiar, organic music supports a positive lyrical message of perseverance, maintaining relationships, and a carefree lifestyle.
The Outer Vibe’s 2012 album Hoka Hey independently achieved much success, getting top 5 request at radio in Michigan, Wisconsin and the Dakotas. “Hoka Hey” was also licensed by ABC News’s “Good Morning, America” and West Michigan’s Baker College in 2013.
Now The Outer Vibe has written a collection of new original material that has gained the attention of nationally known producers with multi-platinum status, as well as some key radio programmers, one of whom expects to see the band break nationally. The band is currently collaborating with producer Brad Dollar (The National, Bob Weir) and mastering engineer Joe LaPorta (The Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Vampire Weekend) to put the finishing touches on their new songs, which will be released in early 2015.
Hailing from Goshen, Ind., Wilson’s Reservoir is driven by the experiences and travels of frontman Ben Wilson. Much like the reservoir created by Ben and his father during his youth, the band calls each listener into the clearings of the individual life journey.
Wilson’s Reservoir strives to provide honest art that investigates birth and burial, trust and betrayal, desire and distraction, and hope and failure. Their efforts are to create music and performance that allows the listener to join the bands experiences as passenger, driver, and friend.
The sound created by Wilson’s Reservoir is a mixture of driving rock elements with nuances of southern hospitality.
For the past year Wilson’s Reservoir has been finishing their second album with long time friend/producer, Josh Antonucci (Southeast Engine, Vetiver) under a new line up and focus. Artist Andy Martin (bass) returns with his signature sound while new members Andrew Hauser (drums) and Rafael Chavez Moreno (guitar) help mold new layers into the framework of Wilson’s Reservoir.
The band plans to finish and release the album in the early spring of 2015. They are excited about the new life this music brings, and sharing these stories with others.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23. Tickets are $18 for reserved seating; $15 for general admission.
