North Webster Chamber Reorganizes
Reorganization was the name of the game at the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce general meeting Monday at the North Webster American Legion Post 253.
Members heard about the new committees being formed by the chamber’s board of directors. They are administrative, events, business development, and marketing. Members are urged to join at least one of these.
Stacey Cox was reappointed by the board as treasurer. Richard Owen has resigned from the board of directors.
Dues deadline to be included in the chamber “Community Guide for 2015-2016” is Feb. 13. It is a very effective marketing tool for North Webster and members. Membership applications have been mailed and can also be downloaded at www.northwebster.com.
The annual awards banquet will be held Monday evening, March 2. Nominations are being accepted for Person of the Year, Small Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year. Criteria for Person of the Year is someone who has shown outstanding participation and involvement in the local community, investing themselves in the future of the area without thought of personal gain.
Small and large business awards have the same criteria except for staff size. Small business is five or less while large is six or more employees or staff. They should be consistent and active members of the chamber for five or more years and exhibit above average contribution to the community and commerce of the area. Mail nominations to NWTTCC, P.O. Box 19, North Webster, IN 46555 by Jan. 31. Written nominations can also be dropped off at Sue’s Creations and Pletcher Insurance.
Donations by members for silent auction items for the awards banquet are also being sought. Ideas include free services such as landscaping, housekeeping, therapeutic massage, catering, lesson or classes, gift certificates, gift baskets, memorabilia, home decor, logo items or event tickets. In other business, it was announced the chamber’s Business of the Month is North Webster NewMarket. Three additional bags of shoes have been collected for the chamber shoe project. Those with used shoes to donate may take them to the North Webster American Legion, North Webster Community Center or the chamber office, Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St.
The next general membership meeting will be noon Monday, Feb. 9, American Legion Post 253, 756 S. SR 13.
