Taisiya Sharun, 15, Oakridge Drive, Elkhart, died in a one-vehicle accident at 4:49 a.m. today on CR 20, west of Kreighbaum, one-mile south of the Elkhart City limits.

The driver of the vehicle Sharon was riding in, Timofey Karas, 21, Goshen, is in critical condition at South Bend Memorial Hospital. He suffered head trauma.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department reported Karas was westbound on CR 20, west of Kreighbaum in a 2004 Toyota UXS. Karas lost control of his vehicle, went off the road striking a tree in the front yard of 28166 CR 20. Sharon was extricated from the vehicle by Baugo Fire Department and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Deputy Elkhart County Coroner.

The crash remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
