Mary Naomi Tuttle
Mary Naomi Tuttle, 91, of Warsaw, passed away 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, in Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake.
She was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Wabash County, to Joseph H. and Effie C. (Ulrey) Studebaker. She was united in marriage to Richard Gordon Tuttle on June 3, 1945, in South Whitley, and had 67 years of marriage. Gordon preceded her Sept. 30, 2012. She was a graduate of Larwill High School, class of 1941 and Wayne University of Beauty Culture College, Fort Wayne in 1942.
She formerly operated a Beauty Salon in Larwill, and worked on the family farm for 40 years. She was a Sunday School teacher for several years at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church where she also played the organ and piano for church services and organized funeral dinners. She was a former 4-H Leader for Kosciusko County 4-H and led the Pierceton Girls 4-H. In addition, she was a member of Gideon’s International. She loved music and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include her daughters: Carol Whitesell, Warsaw; Jayne St. Marie (James) Mondello, Palm Beach, Fla.; a son: James (Virginia) Tuttle, Rochester Hill, Mich.; grandchildren: Richard and Alec Prentice, Michael, Jenny, Adam and Jackie Whitesell, Kristie Breitwieser, Lori Price and Paula Olson; five great-grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers: Junior, Paul and Donald Studebaker.
Calling hours are scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the funeral chapel. Chaplain Bob Jarboe will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
