Amtrak, INDOT Agree To Contract Extension For Hoosier State Line
INDOT has announced that Amtrak will continue to operate the Hoosier State Line train between Indianapolis and Chicago under a contract extension approved through April 1. The previous extension is set to expire Jan. 31.
The agreement allows an extra 60 days to complete long-term contract negotiations for Amtrak to continue operating the line with portions of the service being provided by INDOT contractors. INDOT is negotiating renewal of the service on behalf of the state, Beech Grove, Crawfordsville, Indianapolis, Lafayette, Rensselaer, Tippecanoe county and West Lafayette.
The Hoosier State runs four days a week. In conjunction with another line, Amtrak’s Cardinal, it serves to provide daily travel between Indianapolis and Chicago and enables passengers to reach the national Amtrak network.
