Triton Closes NSC Play With Win
LAKEVILLE – Triton will head into the toughest Class 1-A girls basketball sectional in the state on a high note after a 58-37 win at LaVille Friday night.
The Lady Trojans had 14 points each from Kylie Mason and Jaela Meister and another 12 points from Becca Kennedy. Meister added six rebounds and block to pace the victory.
McKenzie Leed led LaVille with a game-high 17 points and tossed in three rebounds and three steals to cap her solid night for the Lady Lancers.
Triton were sharp from the floor in victory, shooting 61 percent (22-36) and hit 8-of-11 free throw attempts to wrap up a 5-2 mark in the final season of the current Northern State Conference. LaVille finishes 1-6 in the NSC. Culver will claim the final NSC banner after upsetting John Glenn 44-27 Friday night. Culver finishes 7-0 and Glenn 6-1.
Triton will take its 15-7 record and No. 7 ranking into the sectional at Oregon-Davis. The Lady Trojans will play Friday against the winner of No. 6 Culver (19-4) and No. 5 South Central (Union Mills) (18-5), a Tuesday night matchup. No. 4 Oregon-Davis (14-7) will take on Argos (13-9) with LaCrosse (14-8) waiting for the winner.
LaVille (8-13) will get the winner of Westview (20-3) and Fremont (10-10) in the 2-A sectional at Central Noble.
