Man Gets Lost Ring Back 22 Years Later
A Chicago man was amazed to get his class ring back recently, 22 years after losing it at a lumber yard in Nashville, IN.
Kurt Altmann said the ring slipped off his finger while he was in Brown county. Unbeknownst to him, a 9 year old boy found it and gave it to his mother. That woman, Beth Hamm, put it in a drawer, hoping to find its owner some day.
Recently she came across the ring again and asked her husband to go online to research the owner. They tracked Altmann down and she mailed the ring to him with a letter.
“That’s one amazing thing about it, that she went through with the effort; she didn’t pawn the ring off or sell it. It was silver. She was just a good-hearted person who just wanted to make sure I got a piece of my life, of high school back,” said Altmann. “That was totally awesome that she did that.”
He said the ring was in perfect condition, just like he remembered it from his senior year at Thorntown High School in Illinois. He intends to be more careful with it now that it has been returned to him.
