Michigan Offering Free Fishing This Weekend
The state of Michigan is offering license-free fishing this weekend. Residents and out-of-state visitors will be able to fish in Michigan’s waters at no charge Feb. 14 and 15. Another free fishing weekend is also scheduled for later in the year, June 13 and 14.
“The free fishing weekends help increase awareness of Michigan’s world-class fishing and also provide an excellent opportunity for families to introduce the joy of fishing to children,” stated Senator John Proos, R-St. Joseph.
All fishing license fees will be waived, but all fishing regulations still apply. Michigan offers more than 3,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, more than 11,000 inland lakes and 36,350 miles of rivers and streams for freshwater fishing.
