Office of Congressman Marlin Stutzman
U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement following the passing of Dane A. Miller, co-founder of Biomet Inc., a Warsaw-based orthopedic devices manufacturer.
“I am very saddened to learn that our Hoosier family has lost a great man, Dane Miller. Dane was a kind man with a work ethic that allowed him to be one of Indiana’s great success stories and live the American Dream.
“As a co-founder of Biomet, now a medical device giant, there was very little that could hold him back. In true Hoosier fashion, he started Biomet in a converted barn. Over time, he managed to grow this company and welcome over 4,000 employees and produce over $2 billion in worldwide sales. His tenacity and brilliance at Biomet made him a true pioneer of the medical device industry.
“His accomplishments as a CEO however are only eclipsed by who he was as a man. Dane was a loving husband, a caring father, and a kind neighbor to all of those in the greater communities of Warsaw and Winona Lake. He had a wonderful impact on the lives of thousands of Hoosiers and he will be greatly missed. I am very grateful for all of his contributions both personally and professionally. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family at this time.”
