Cabaret Comes To Fort Wayne Civic Theatre
“Cabaret” is coming to the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre starting on Valentine’s day for eight performances.
“Cabaret” is set in the early 1930’s, prior to the rise of the Third Reich, aspiring writer Cliff Bradshaw has traveled to Berlin in search of inspiration. He finds Sally Bowles performing at the Kit Kat Klub and they begin a friendship that eventually leads to an ill-fated romance. Cliff’s experiences in Germany during this tumultuous era are reflected in the show’s musical numbers, particularly through the wry commentary provided by the cabaret’s Master of Ceremonies. He is a part of a host of colorful characters including the boarding house proprietress Fräulein Schneider; her Jewish suitor, Herr Schultz; Ernst, a fellow traveler on the train; and the Kit Kat Klub Girls and Boys.
“Cabaret” is directed by Phillip H. Colglazier and choreographed by Leslie Beauchamp. Eunice Wadewitz is musical director, Clarence Tennis III is stage manager and Brittney Lynne Koza is assistant stage manager.
Evan Hart plays the famous Emcee, while Sally Bowles and Clifford Bradshaw are played by Bridget Pearson and Michael Coale. Maggie Kole Hunter as Fraulein Schneider, Gary Lanier as Herr Schultz, Scott Rumage as Ernst Ludwig, Megan Meyer as Fraulein Kost and Adam King as Max round out the lead roles.
