Blizzard Warning, ‘Red’ Travel Warning In Effect For Kosciusko
The Kosciusko County Commissioners and Kosciusko County Emergency Management have issued a “Red” Warning Level regarding roadway travel.
This is the highest level of local travel advisory. Travel is restricted to emergency management workers only. It is recommended that everyone should refrain from any travel.
Additionally, the National Weather Services has put Kosciusko County us under a blizzard warning until 10 p.m. tonight. Moderate to heavy lake effect snow bands and blowing snow is expected through the rest of the evening.
Accumulations of two to four inches is expected, though these numbers may vary depending on where snow bands set up. Wind gusts as high as 40 to 45 mph may result in whiteout conditions, especially over open areas. These factors have resulted in the severity of the local travel advisory.
Wind chills could drop into 10 degrees below zero, and as low as 25 degrees below zero in over night and into Sunday morning. Bitterly cold wind chill could cause frost bite in as little as 30 minutes.
The blizzard warning extends to Marshall, Wabash, Whitley, Fulton, Noble, Elkhart counties. “Red” level travel advisories are also in effect in Elkhart, Marshall Fulton Counties.
