NWS Issues Winter Weather Advisory
The National Weather Service in northern Indiana has issued a winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow in effect for Kosciusko and area counties until 10 p.m.
According to the NWS, bands of light to moderate lake effect snow will develop this afternoon and persist through mid-evening. Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible along the Highway 6 corridor with an inch or less south.
Wind gusts of up to 20 to 30 mph will create areas of blowing snow causing reduced visibilities and a dangerous wind chill between 10 below and 25 below zero through Thursday morning.
Travel will be impacted by snow covered roads and limited visibility in heavier snow showers. Prolonged exposure to this extreme cold can lead to hypothermia and frost bite in under 30 minutes or less.
