Buzz Aldrin’s Space Suit To Be Displayed In South Bend
A space suit worn by astronaut Buzz Aldrin will be on display at The History Museum in South Bend as part of an exhibit entitled “On the Move: Transportation Through the Ages” beginning Saturday, Feb. 21.
The suit was worn by Aldrin during training for the Apollo 11 moon mission. It is on loan to the museum for the duration of the exhibit and will be on display through the end of the year.
“Because the moon mission was such an important part of American history, just being able to have something here in South Bend that was such a huge part of history … is really important for us,” stated Erica Kirk, registrar for the museum.
The museum is located at 808 W. Washington St., South Bend. Visiting hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
