Certified Lead Renovator Refresher Training Offered Through BAKFC
In April 2010, the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule came into effect. This lead-based paint regulation required the initial training of contractors who disturbed painted or coated surfaces in residences and/or child occupied facilities built prior to 1978.
The RRP Rule requires refresher training for Certified Lead Renovators every five years. Without this recertification training and certification, the EPA can issue fines in the tens of thousands of dollars to anyone disturbing surfaces with lead paint without the proper training and certification. Visit the EPA.gov website for further information.
The Builders Association of Kosciusko Fulton Counties Inc. has contracted with Nova Environmental, Inc. to provide the Certified Lead Renovator Refresher Training Program for those members that took the initial training in 2009 and 2010.
This training program will be offered at the BAKFC from 8 a.m.–noon Wednesday, Feb. 25. Cost for the training is $175 for BAKFC members and $275 for non-members.
Participants who successfully complete the four hour course shall be provided Lead Renovator certification for a period of five years.
However, it is required that the trainer retain a copy of the initial certificate of the participant in order to issue the refresher certificate. So, if you took the original class from an organization other than BAKFC, you will need to bring a copy of your initial certificate to the refresher training.
Nova Environmental, Inc. has been providing expert environmental training for over 25 years. The instructional staff are professional trainers who have years of experience in the lead industry. They share this knowledge through learned techniques that keep participants interested.
If you are interested in registering for this training program, please contact Joni Truex at (574) 267-6125 or email at [email protected].
