Indiana Girls Injured In FL Parasailing Accident Receive Settlement
A settlement has been made in a lawsuit regarding a 2013 parasailing accident which critically injured two Indiana teens. Alexis Fairchild and Sidney Good were both 17 when their parasail came loose from a boat in Panama City, FL. High winds carried them up in the air and into a hotel balcony before they fell hard onto the tops of cars in a parking lot.
Both girls suffered numerous major injuries, underwent multiple surgeries, had long hospital stays and endured extensive physical therapy. Their families have worked tirelessly to try and change the laws in Florida regarding parasailing regulations so that other families don’t have to go through the same thing.
Claims were filed against the parasailing company, the rental company, the tow rope manufacturer, the wholesaler of the tow rope and the condominium complex where the girls were staying. The undisclosed settlement is reportedly equal for both girls.
Alexis currently attends Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne with hopes of becoming a physical therapist. Her mother shared that she is still in constant pain from her injuries and will face challenges for the rest of her life.
Sidney is in cosmetology school and struggles with continued issues as well, including vision problems that surgeries have not been able to correct.
