NWS Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Kosciusko and area counties.
According to the NWS, snow is expected to spread across the area early Tuesday morning. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible, especially closer to the Michigan state line. Snow should transition to a period of freezing rain from mid-morning to early afternoon before turning to just rain as temperatures warm above freezing. Ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch are possible.
The NWS notes there is still some uncertainty with how fast temperatures will warm above the freezing mark Tuesday. This will ultimately determine how much ice accumulates on surfaces.
The threat of heavy rain no longer exists as precipitation amounts will likely remain at or below one half inch. This rain and melting snow may lead to some minor flooding of low lying areas where drains are covered by snow. Some ice jam flooding could occur as well on frozen streams and creeks.
