Robert E. Gessinger
Robert E. “Bob” Gessinger, age 81, of Nappanee, died at 5:54 pm, Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born Sep. 12, 1933 in Nappanee to Raymond and Isabelle (Nickerson) Gessinger. He married Carole Miller Nov. 11, 1956 at Nappanee Church of the Brethren.
Mr. Gessinger was a graduate of Nappanee High School and had lived his lifetime in Nappanee. He was a United States Navy veteran and had served during the Korean War. Bob had worked in management at General Telephone Company for over 30 years. He was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren.
He was also a member of Nappanee Kiwanis Club, Nappanee American Legion, Nappanee Neighborhood Watch, Community Service for the deaf and the Nappanee Aviation Board. He enjoyed traveling and taking pictures. Surviving is his wife, Carole; sons, Mark (Debbie) Gessinger, Bloomington, Greg Gessinger, Nappanee; and 2 grandchildren, Kathleen (fiancé, Logan Day) Gessinger, Muncie, and Dylan Gessinger, Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Gessinger. Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for 1 hour prior to the Funeral Service which will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at Nappanee Church of the Brethen.
Rev. Byrl Shaver will officiate and burial will be in South Union Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by Nappanee American Legion. Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Church of the Brethren.
