Indianapolis Nonprofit Website Hacked, Claimed By ISIS
Internet hackers claiming to be a part of ISIS took over an Indianapolis art nonprofit website this morning. The ISIS logo and Arabic writing appeared at the top of the page for Indianapolis Downtown Artist and Dealers Association, with music and a message in English saying “Hacked by the Islamic State. We are everywhere.”
The website has since been temporarily shut down while authorities investigate the situation. Indianapolis Department of Homeland Security Chief Gary Coons said several other websites in Indianapolis have also been hacked, but did not give a list of specific websites due to the active investigation.
The hacks also hit websites of several other businesses in Cincinnati, Dayton and Pittsburgh, PA, this weekend. Just last week, IDHS warned that ISIS was using Facebook and Twitter to recruit young people to join the Islamic State.
Coons stated there are no known threats locally, but the department is monitoring area websites and social media. He recommends businesses and organizations keep a close eye on all their accounts and report anything out of the ordinary.
