Officials from St. Joseph Hospital announced today that a renovation of its catheterization laboratory and support areas is underway. The 1,964 sq.-ft. renovation includes the second of three labs to be updated in the past five years. The $2.1 million project will improve workflow efficiency and allow for upgraded equipment in the suite.

“St. Joe’s ongoing investments in new technology allow our medical staff to continue to provide quality care in the heart of the city,” said Kenneth Jones, CEO, St. Joseph Hospital. “We have cardiologists and cardiac surgeons available 24/7, as well as a nationally accredited chest pain center. The second interventional cath lab will enable us to better serve patients’ immediate needs.”

The project will create and enhance spaces used for the care of cardiovascular patients. The goal is to encourage a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere to support the healing of patients and their families. The new cath lab will be operational by the end of April.

This is the second interventional cath lab at St. Joseph Hospital; the first was added in 2010. The three cath labs and support areas occupy 5,850-square-foot of the hospital’s first floor.
