A. Virginia Romine Thomas
A. Virginia Romine Thomas, 100, formerly of rural Etna Green, died at 5 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015, at Millers Merry Manor of Warsaw.
She was born Dec. 11, 1914, in Mishawaka to Octave and Ida (McWilliams) Archambeault.
On May 3, 1932 in Bluffton, she married Marvin Romine. He preceded July 2, 1976. She then married Ward Thomas on Nov. 3, 1981, who preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1996.
She was a homemaker.
Thomas was a graduate of Argos High School. She was a member of the Harrison Center Church of Etna Green where she taught children’s Sunday school for five years. She also was a member of the Merry Mollies Home Extension Club for many years and the Widow to Widow Club. She wintered in Sebring, Fla.
Survivors include: one daughter June and husband Harold Personett – Gilead, Roann; sons: David and wife Dorene Romine, Mentone, James and wife Barbara Romine, Mentone, Wayne and wife Nancy Romine, Etna Green, Dan and wife Diana Romine, Columbia City; stepdaughters: Jennine and husband Wade Bentz, Indio, Calif., and Darlene and Jim Maurer, Leesburg; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sons: John and Tommy Romine; sisters: Lillian Chapin, Violet Herrin, and Margaret Higginbothum; and brothers: Russel, Clarence, Melvin, and Jack Archambeault.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 16, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, in King Memorial Home. Pastor Larry Goss will officiate. Burial will be in Harrison Center – Wooden Cemetery, Etna Green.
