Cook, Gilmer Champs At Bulldog Invite
FORT WAYNE – Wawasee continued to make strides in the track pre-season with a fine showing at the Bulldog Invite held at IPFW Saturday.
Clayton Cook was a double winner in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.28 and was also the long jump champion at 20-11.75.
JJ Gilmer added a winning jump in high jump, clearing 6-6.
The Wawasee boys placed sixth overall as a team, the girls team finished ninth.
Also among the top finishers at the Bulldog were the boys 4×200 relay team of Cook, Gilmer, Tyler Courter and Jacob Moore were second (1:34.92), the girls 4×200 relay team of Aubrey Kuhn, Catherine Yankosky, Sarah Lancaster and Hannah-Marie Lamle were fifth (1:55.16), Cook was eighth in high jump (5-10), Katlyn Kennedy was third in shot put (33-6), Lamle was fourth in the 60-meter high hurdles (10.5) and Kuhn was seventh in the 60-meter dash (8.48).
Cook and Gilmer will advance to compete in the Hoosier State Relays final at Purdue University this weekend in their winning events. Gilmer is the third seed while Cook is the two-seed in the hurdles and five-seed in the long jump.
