Mary E. Appleman, 93 of Knox, passed away peacefully at 4:15 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Catherine Kasper Life Center in Donaldson.

Born December 3, 1921 in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ruth (Charters) Beghtel. On June 8, 1940, she married Kenneth Appleman. He preceded her in death in June 1991. She was a 1939 Kewanna High School graduate and a retired LPN. Mary was a member of the Suburban Bible Church in Highland and attended Knox United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, playing cards and bowling.

Survivors include two daughters: Marilyn Ringen, Knox and Nancy (Paul) Mantel, Dyer; sisters: Janice (Robert) Corbett, South Bend; Bonnie (Virgil) Barker, Winamac and Barbara Gochenen. Five grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael) Skinner; Thomas Bitterling; Stephanie (Joe) Arwood; Robert Lyons and Katherine (Mark) Porojcic, nine great grandchildren: Ashley Arwood; Alexandia Bulick; Jordan Bulick; Victoria Bulick; Cassidy Porojcic; Sophia Porojcic; Nicholas Bitterling; Brady Bitterling; Chloe Bitterling and Hannah Bitterling.

She was also preceded in death by daughter: Carol Sue Walters; brother: Joseph Beghtel; sisters: Patsy Schrader; Clara Sue Albee and Doris Tircuitt and adoptive parents: Fred and Stella Grube, grandchildren: Nick Lyons and Emily Bitterling and son-in-law: Richard Ringen.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel with visitation from 11 a.m until the time of service.

Burial will follow at Kewanna Citizens IOOF Cemetery.
