Wawasee Competes At Hoosier State Relays
WEST LAFAYETTE – Members of the Wawasee boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Hoosier State Relays finals held Saturday at Purdue University.
Clayton Cook highlighted the day for Wawasee with a third place finish in the 60-meter high hurdles and a sixth place finish in the long jump. The senior earned First Team All-State honors. Cook ran an 8.29 in the hurdles, won by Warren Central’s Glendon Montgomery at 8.23 and chased by Bijay Stephens of Fort Wayne Northrop’s 8.25. Cook sailed 21-0.5 in his long jump.
Cook also competed on the Warriors 4×200 relay with Tyler Courter, Cole VanLue an Jacon Moore. The team placed 14th with a time of 1:53.82.
Fellow Warrior senior J.J. Gilmer finished 14th in the high jump at 6-0 and 17th in the long jump at 19-1 to wrap up his indoor season.
Katlyn Kennedy represented the Lady Warriors Saturday as she placed 16th in the shot put at 34-1.5.
“We’re looking forward to opening the outdoor season after a solid indoor campaign,” stated Wawasee head coach Scott Lancaster.
