Betty D. Gordon
Betty D. Gordon 90, Rochester, passed away at 3:12 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Life Care Center of Rochester.
Betty was born on Oct. 4, 1925 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of Lawrence and Ora (Brown) Castle. On Nov. 20, 1943 in San Diego, California, she married Virgil “Paul” Gordon, after his completion of basic training with the United States Marine Corps and prior to his deployment to the South Pacific during World War II. Paul preceded her in death on June 22, 2005. They were married for sixty two years and she never stopped missing him and loving him.
Betty worked as a supervisor for Olin in Mexico. She retired from Olin at the age of fifty eight.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Terry(Richard) Schwartz, Valenica, California; Kenneth (Julie) Love, Battle Ground, Washington; Claudia McCarty, Westfield; Mark Fribley, Warsaw; great nieces and nephews: Rick Schwartz; Lynda Newma; Lesleen Riley; Craig Schwartz; Jon Love; Marc Love; Vince McCarty and Vaughn McCarty. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Lola Alexander and Emelyn Crabtree; and brother: Alvah “Pete” Castle.
Burial will take place in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana. No services or visitation will be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel canyon Road, Kanab, Utah. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester.
