Man Charged With Public Indecency At Fort Wayne Library
An Auburn man is facing a charge of public indecency after taking off his clothes inside the Allen County Library.
According to the report, the manger of the library at 536 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, called police at approximately 10:30 a.m. March 24 after confronting the man, who was sitting at a computer station wearing only his shorts and no other clothing.
The manager stated she told the man, who police later identified as Donn Avary Schmidt, he needed to wear more clothing while in the library. Schmidt questioned the policy but left and said he would return with more clothing. However, as he walked out the door, he took off his shorts and left completely naked.
The manager stated Schmidt then returned, with his shorts back on, and asked to see the policy requiring him to wear more clothing. The manager asked him to leave, and he again took off his shorts and exited completely naked.
The manager followed Schmidt out and waited in the parking lot until police arrived, according to the report. Schmidt was taken to the Allen County Jail.
